Fill the Page

This is one of my absolute favorite ways to doodle! It forces me to creatively get content out of my head. You can do this technique several different ways: you can fill the page with whatever randomness comes to mind or you can draw the same thing different ways. This is an extremely good idea if you're feeling uninspired or don't know where to start. Take a look at the video below to see how I fill the page!

Tips & Tricks:

  • I highly recommend you do this in pen. You don't want to erase; you want to be fully committed to the doodles you're drawing. Yes, this results in mistakes. But it ensures you get as much as you can onto the page.
  • Don't worry about being perfect. There will be things on your page that you don't like. But this exercise is about stretching your creativity.
  • Challenge yourself by picking a theme. Or keep it completely random. The choice is yours!
  • This is supposed to be enjoyable and relaxing. Have fun and see what you can create!

A sketchbook page full of doodles

I love the end result of this exercise! It's a great way to let go, loosen up, and get the ideas flowing. It's super therapeutic and a lot of fun. So, get started on your homework and then meet me in the next lesson.

ASSIGNMENT: Practice the technique shared in this lesson with any theme that'd you like. The possibilities are endless. Just start doodling, and remember, don't overthink it!
