Consistency
Welcome back! This next concept was a big ah-ha moment for me when I first learned it, and I think it's really going to make a difference for you, too. It's simple yet powerful and will seep into any type of lettering you decide to do. Sit back and watch the following video to learn about this totally crucial and pretty rad tip that will instantly make your lettering better!
Crazy, right? It's like a light-bulb-above-the-head scenario when you grasp the idea that most letters are based off a similar shape. Like I said, if you encounter problems in your lettering down the road, come back to this lesson, review the content, and more than likely, it will solve your problem.
Tips & Tricks:
- Go through the whole alphabet and see how many letters you can make from the basic O shape.
- This practice not only helps you gain muscle memory but also promotes consistency in your letters.
- Once you've got the letters down, move on to an entire short word and observe the consistencies in the shapes and curves.
When you create similar shapes and curves in your lettering, your piece will fit together like a family—every piece looks like it belongs. And when you create unison with this technique, you'll achieve a cohesive look throughout all your work!
